Social sail, learn to sail or race - there's no better way to spend your summer than on the water with TISC! As a TISC member, you'll have access to our fleet of Albacores, Lasers and Hobies. Plus, our spectacularly located clubhouse. Between our unique Social Sail program, Learn to Sail (education), racing programs, and our social events, TISC has something for every sailor at any skill level.

Social Sailing

Social sailing takes place on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday evenings. Novice sailors are paired with experienced sailors. This allows members to learn skills at their own pace. You will have the opportunity to improve your skills and achieve Helms, Senior Helms or Skipper status throughout. After social sailing, we fire up the BBQs and socialize over a potluck. Bring something to BBQ for yourself, and something to share!

Fast Track for Experienced Sailors

New to TISC but already an experienced dinghy sailor? If you prefer to skip our Learn to Sail course, we offer the option to take our Experienced Sailor Test. Tests are conducted in our Albacore dinghies. Some of the drills you will be asked to demonstrate are the following:

  • Basic sailboat and sailing knowledge
  • Departing and returning to our docks
  • Tacking and gybing
  • Good sail trim on all points of sail
  • Person overboard drill
  • Capsize recovery

If you haven't sailed for many years, have sailed but not in a dinghy, or you're due for a refresher in any of the above skills, we strongly recommend that you take a Learn to Sail course.

Think you'd like to jump straight to the test? Contact Education at to arrange an Experienced Sailor Test.
