Want to Learn More About Racing at TISC?
TISC members take part in several exciting racing series throughout the season—and there are always opportunities to join in as crew! The best way to learn about racing is by getting involved.
Crew Opportunities: Racing skippers are often looking for enthusiastic crew members to join their teams. Whether you're new to sailing or working toward becoming a Racing Skipper, crewing is a great way to build experience, learn racing strategy, and be part of the action.
Who Can Join: All TISC members are welcome to participate as crew in Canadian Albacore Association (CAA) races, including Harbour Masters and Regattas — no matter your sailing level.
For the Friday Night Race Series, you’ll need to be certified as a Helm or higher. However, special exceptions are sometimes made for novices to join these races.
Thinking About Becoming a Racing Skipper? Supporting as crew is the best way to prepare for the Racing Skipper test and to get familiar with the Sailing Rules of Racing. Plus, you could even earn recognition—awards are given to top crew at the TISC Regatta and the end-of-season celebration!
Join the TISC Crew Bank: If you're interested in racing as crew, sign up for the TISC Crew Bank. While spots fill quickly, registering shows skippers you're eager to get involved—and helps the Racing Director match you with available boats.
